Dear Susan Morrison,
I received CineAction's call for papers via the KnieJapan discussion list,
and would like to submit a paper for consideration. The paper is an analysis
of Terayama Shuji's experimental film _An Introduction to film (for the sake
of) youth_ [Seishonen no tame no eiga nyumon] made in 1974 for the One
Hundred Feet film festival in Tokyo. I examine his experimental project for
what it tells of 'modes of spectatorship' (it is a multi-screen film). I them
seek to elaborate the experimental project more braodly (conevering a number
of his experimental films) in terms of the Japanese French coproduction
_China Doll_. My project is to examine the way in which experimental film
enters into some sort of dialogue with industry produced feature film, at
least in the specific case of Terayama Shuji. I do not seek to essentialise
his experimental projects by doing this, but rather to make some
correspondences between the projects.
If this is the kind of paper CineAction may be interested in please let me
know what format I should send the hard copy. The University library does not
(unfortunately) subscribe to CineAction, so the only information I have of
the journal is what can be found on the internet. Some more information would
be useful.
Yours Sincerely,
Michael Fitzhenry
