QUESTION ABOUT KUROSAWA...

I'm triying to remember the title a Kurosawa film I saw many years ago. The 
main character occupied the task of a hero and, gradually, he was 
impregnated of the characteristics of that hero. I'll appreciate your help.

May be I'm wrong and it is not a Kurosawa's...
