Nikkei Nambei-jin

There is a quite wonderful Brazilian film about the early generations of
Japanese immigrants to Brazil called
"GAIJIN" - directed by Tizuka Yamazaki
(Yamazaki is a 3rd-generation Japanese-Brazilian, I believe, and the film is
the somewhat fictionalized story of her grandmother.)
The film has been subtitled in English, and was shown in NY during the
mid-1980s. Sorry, I have no idea who distributes it or where to obtain it.
You should also take a look at Susumu Hani's "ANDES no HANAYOME" (Bride of
the Andes)
I'm sure there are others, but I can't recall titles.

Hello,
I wonder if anyone on the list knows of any films, fiction
or documentary, that deal with the issue of Brazilians or
other Latin Americans from Japanese origins. Anything
would be helpful, whether it covers Japanese migration to
South America, Nikkei history and communities over there,
Nikkei returnees to Japan and their legal and ethnic
status, or any other related topic.
Thanks,
Najib El-Khash
