KUROSAWA FILM?

I wonder if anyone knows about a film where the main character occupies the 
place of some other hero and, gradually, he gets impregnated of the 
characteristics of that hero. I saw it many years ago and I can't remember 
anything else, but that may be it was a Kurosawa's.
