Perhaps that explains why the Nippon Academy Awards ceremony is such a dull 
affair - a lot of painfully demure, self-effacing mumbling that does little 
to justify a 2-3 hour live broadcast.  It certainly won't do anything to 
revive public interest in the Japanese film industry either - probably 
quite the opposite.
