Nobuo Nakagawa

Cyril mentioned recent releases of Nakagawa Nobuo films. I think many of
KineJapan will be glad to hear that Beam has released Nakagawa's Tokaido
Yotsuya Kaidan, a true tour-de-force within the Yotsuya kaidan tradition.
And it has English subtitles. The only copy that I had seen to date was a
video transfer from a print that itself had suffered serious degradation.
It's great to see this spectacular film in better shape. My students
enjoyed it--and that was the pre-DVD version!
But, yes, I concur with Cyril. With the recent late 50s releases by Beam of
Ghost of Cat Pon, Mother Tree, Tokaido Yotsuya Kaidan, one wonders if the
ghost genre of other periods will see the light of re-release.
