Of course don't forget Oshima Nagisa's film from the 1960's, _Death by
Hanging_ (sorry, the Japanese title escapes me--very embarrassing!)...
It's a rare film, hard to get hold of, but York University in Toronto has
a 16mm print. The story concerns the (true) case of a Korean executed for
allegedly sexually assaulting a Japanese schoolgirl. The film satirises
the Japanese creation of this "killer"--very powerful work.
