Mike Hama DVD

According to CD Japan, the August 26 release of Mike Hama is a two-disc DVD
of the first two episodes only (directed by Akira Ogata and Ryosuke Maeda
respectively), both in longer "director's cut" versions.

Interestingly, this double DVD comes with the cardboard box that's designed
to house the entire series, suggesting that DVD releases of the other
episodes are on their way in the near future.

Here's the direct link to the Mike Hama entry:

No word on subtitles, but since this is a TV series I wouldn't expect any.

Incidentally, I watched the full-length version of Shinji Aoyama's episode
last Sunday at Cologne's CineAsia festival. I thought the mental change that
Mike goes through during the course of the film was quite interesting, until
I realised that it wouldn't work in the context of the series. After all, as
the protagonist of an on-going series Mike will probably be a flat character
who starts each episode with a clean slate. I write this not having seen any
of the other entries in the series so I might be wrong, but the fact that 12
different directors were involved (sometimes writing their own scripts)makes
it unlikely that events from previous episode resonate throughout the
series. Can anyone who's been following the show offer their views on this?
