?I think that Japan is so dynamic that the terms "Japanese culture" or even
"Japanese identity" have become rather problematic.
Why is it problematic? 

Did see kill bill - thought it was a pastiche of styles with no real intent. However, hasn't Hollywood always been like that? a pastiche of cinematic tastes? let's not forget that the spagehetti western grew out of SL having watched a Kurosawa film. Has Japanese cinema not been influential to cinematic development in general? Why the sudden surprise, when Japanese culture is reflected in 3 hollywood films?
