Hi, My name is Lawrence Bird & I am an adjunct professor at McGill
University's School of Architecture, Montreal, Canada. I have an interest
in Japanese popular culture, particularly film, and its relationship to
architecture and urbanism. I have lived in Kanazawa, Japan, between 1993
and 1999, where I was at various times an English teacher, a research
student at Kanazawa Institute of Technology, and a design drawing
instructor at Kanazawa International Design Institute. Prior to that I
obtained a degree in architecture at McGill, and afterwards an M.Sc. in
City Design & Social Science at London School of Economics.

I am currently writing a paper on magical real aspects of Japanese popular
culture, and will be discussing in part Takeshi Kitano's recent film
"Dolls" (2002). I have a few questions about the film, however I will hold
off on them for the time being.

Pleased to meet everyone and thanks for your attention.
Lawrence Bird
