Ishii Teruo remade Stanley Kramer's "The Defiant Ones" as "Abashiri
Bangaichi," though the film was not a straight rip but an amalgamation of
the Hollywood film and an original script.

Ishii also made "Juichinin no Gang" (Gang of Eleven, 1963), which was partly
inspired by "Ocean's Eleven," though the knock over target in the Ishii film
was, not Las Vegas casinos, but the payroll office of a tubing plant. Well,
it was Japan in the early sixties...
