Assistant/Associate Professor, Japanese Studies

University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and Center for 
Asian
and Pacific Studies invite applications for a tenure-track position in
Japanese studies at the assistant/associate rank.  We seek Japan 
specialists
engaged in cross-disciplinary/comparative research and/or creative 
arts.  A
background in at least one of the following areas is required:  Asian
Languages & Literature, History, Journalism & Mass Communication, 
Sociology,
or Theatre Arts.  Applicants with additional fields of study (including 
but
not limited to Anthropology and Cinema & Comparative Literature) are
encouraged to apply.  Applicants must have research experience in Japan 
and
be highly proficient in Japanese language.  We seek productive
scholars/artists, committed and effective teachers, and active 
participants
in Center programs.  Please send letter of application describing 
teaching
and research experience and interests, full cv, and three or more 
letters of
