I no longer rely on what comes out in the US. I just get the Japanese DVDs
(or the cheaper Korean and HK versions). In some cases, I have broken down
and gotten unsubtitled DVDs -- hoping I can find subtitle translations (or at
least good synopses). In the longer tern, I guess I'll just have to keep
learning Japanese).
There's lots of great stuff coming out from Asia (not just Japan). It's just
that you can't rely on American companies to deliver it to you. Multi-region
DVD players are a god-send.
