  I think I know where it is. The reason I asked is because I almost got hit
by a truck in that area, ironic, eh?

  And in another (long dead topic), I just finally watched "Lost in
Translation." I don't know what to say about it but I would love to hear
someone's colonialist reading of the film (apologies if this has been
brought up -- just got back in my apartment, still catching up with
e-mails). The story could have taken place anywhere else and still attracted
the same audience, especially with the heavy reliance on the soundtrack.
Of course the cinematography is good (but then again, it's not hard to take
cool shots in big cities, anyone with a camera and some imagination will
tell you that) and it's great to see Tokyo on the screen, but that is
definetely not my Japan (come on, cool people do *not* go to karaoke).
