The news reports that the body of the scriptwriter and novelist Nozawa
Hisashi was discovered today, serveral days after he committed suicide.
He was only 44. He apparently hung himself in his office, but it was
only a couple days later that a friend came to visit and found the
body. There was no suicide note.

Nozawa began writing for television in the mid-1980s, but soon began
writing for film as well. In a still notorious incident, his script for
Sono otoko, kyobo ni tsuki (Violent Cop) was radically rewritten by
Kitano Takeshi when he took over the reins from Fukasaku Kinji.
Nozawa's other film credits include Maririn ni aitai and Fuyajo. He has
written several popular television dramas, including Koibito yo, Aoi
tori and Nemureru mori. In recent years, he has branched off into
mystery novels, winning important prizes. He wrote the script for the
film Hasen no Marisu based on his own Edogawa Ranpo Prize winning novel.
