I can't give an answer that wouldn't be speculative, but maybe NHK wants to
monopolize said market?

satellite link. When I had NHK at home I also had France's TV-5 and Brazil's
Globo; the combined cost of both was the same as the price for the NHK
channel itself. They were all on the same linkup too (I think some of the
choices for that satellite link included channels from Poland, Greek,
France, Brazil, India).


I agree with you, it would be good to get an answer to this. You'd think
that someone would want to pave the way for this business. I wonder how
Japanese expatriates feel about this; do they feel that NHKs programming
leaves more to be desired?
