Subtitling Foreign Films in Japanese

TITRA Vienna will soon start a project of subtitling several German film
classics (on celluloid) into several languages, among them also into
Japanese. Technically this isn't a problem any more if you use the right
software. The bigger problem is that their staff can't speak or read
Japanese, so they can't check the results. Also, since the market seems
rather limited, I doubt that they will actively venture into languages like
Japanese, Chinese or Arabic. Another question are the costs. I presume it is
cheaper to subtitle in Japan.
