 Tom Cruise's origin doesn't matter; what matters is that he, the colonizer,
now "understands the colonial subjects better than they understand
themselves." And the latter bought that fact (they're not supposed to). But
then again, as you mentioned, it's Hollywood, an industry now based on
emotional manipulation -- it's their job, and they did it correctly.
