Chaplin in Japan

[Aaron Gerow]

The character of Sanji Goto in the film of the same name directed by 
Thomas Kurihara (aka Kurihara Kisaburo) in 1919 has definite Chaplin 
elements (especially when he gets on the boat), including the bowler 
hat and the cane.
