Surely the point is, whatever his name was when he was christened, in this
particular film's credits he appears credited as ISSEY. In terms of film
cataloguing and referencing, he should be indexed as ISSEY for this film.
Any English biography might want to point out the standard romanisation of
his name is ISSEI, but his Western appearances are under the name of ISSEY.

When I did an interview with Jouji Iida, I was instructed by Shochiku, who
had organised the interview, to refer to him as George Iida. This is the
name he wished to be referred to in the West as.
