You might want to check with what the trade press publisher thinks you
have to do. When I was preparing images for "Stray Dog of Anime," my
editor at Palgrave Macmillan told me that their lawyers had determined
that I could use up to two screen grabs from each film under discussion
-- this would count as "fair use" in my case, so I wouldn't have to get
permission from any of the copyright holders. I don't know if this is a
standard rule of thumb, but it really saved me some headaches. 

(I'm really glad that I didn't have to go to the Japanese copyright
holders. One of the guys I was talking with at the Japanese animation
company Production IG said that when they wanted to publish a book
celebrating the anniversary of the company it took them years to secure
all of the image permissions to their own material.)

On the other hand, I've had some dealings with some of the PR people
over at Go Fish and they've always been really helpful, so it probably
couldn't hurt to give that a shot.
