Hello Professor Bernstein,
If you are traveling to Los Angeles, I think two of the best bets where 
you'd find what you're looking for would be Cinefile and Vidiots. Both are 
located on the west side of the city. Both of these DVD rental shops have a 
good foreign film collection, and sells some of their inventory, so I think 
it'd be worth calling them.
