Japanese Actors Union

The main actors union seems to be Nippairen (Nihon Haiyu Rengo), which 
has 2800 members. Since it is the outgrowth of the TV actors union, I 
think they still focus on the TV industry, but you can ask them about 
their specific activities with the film industry:

It is clear, however, that they are no where near as strong, or enforce 
as strict conditions on the industry, as their American counterparts. I 
have heard of various restrictions (for instance, I think if you go 
past 12 pm on the set, the producer is required to pay taxi fare for 
everyone to go home), but you see little of the conditions regarding 
hiring you do in the USA. Again, you should contact them for specifics.
