Japanese Films Strong at Venice

The official lineup for this year's Venice Film Festival
was released today, and Japan has done very well, with 2
films in competition, two out of competition and two in
the "horizons" section. Here are the films:
IN COMPETITION
- Paprika, Kon Satoshi, 90?, animation
- Mushi-shi, Otomo Katsuhiro, 131'
OUT OF COMPETITION
- Gedo Senki (Tales from Earthsea), Miyazaki Goro, 115',
animation
OUT OF COMPETITION (MIDNIGHT)
- Sakebi, Kurosawa Kiyoshi, 96'
HORIZONS
- Koorogi (double 'o' being a long vowel), Aoyama Shinji,
102'
HORIZONS (DOCUMENTARY)
- Tachiguishi retsuden, Oshii Mamoru, 104'
