As Peter Grilli mentioned in his email, Donald Richie will be introducing a
screening of several of his films here at Yale on the evening of Wednesday,
October 18. This is actually "Program 4" of the Japanese Experimental Film
Series and Donald Richie will also be participating in the final event of
the series, a workshop on Japanese Experimental Film which will be held the
following afternoon (Thursday, October 19). There will also be another,
more general, workshop with Donald Richie on Tuesday, October 17 entitled
"Japanese Film Aesthetics Across Film History: Shifting Paradigms of
Japaneseness from the 30s to the Present." All of these events are open to
anyone on this list, so please let me know if you are interested in
attending or would like more information.
