Uchida's Tsuchi

I just watched a (seemingly vintage) German-subbed version of Uchida's Tsuchi 
that seemed to be lacking both the first an last reels (there were unsubbed 
title cards at the beginning and end). ?The last scene actually depicted was 
the family trying to revive the grandfather. ?The "triumphant ending" 
described in various articles wasn't shown. ?Does this film exist in complete 
form (and is this just an odd variant) -- or does this survive only in 
incomplete form?
