yureru

Dear All,

Aaron's mention of the Yokohama Film Festival Awards and most  
recently Eiga geijutsu's Worst Ten prompted me to recall Yureru, a  
satisfying film, despite its unfortunate ranking, featuring an  
excellent performance by Odagiri Jo.  The film was interesting  
commentary, I thought, on the inevitable failure of memory's accuracy  
under the psychic weight of familial bonds.   But, pertinent to this  
list is the fact that the film organized that commentary around  
courtroom recollection; it can be added to that fairly short list of  
Japanese courtroom melodramas we composed last year on this list.
