English speakers

I don't know about Nakata after his Hollywood adventure, but the rest
would require an interpreter. Asano speaks some English, but not
enough to go on stage without an interpreter. Directors who do speak
some English include Shiota Akihiko and Iwai Shunji, but I imagine
that they would also request an interpreter for on-stage interviews.
Harada Masato is fluent, and he's recently back behind the camera
after acting in LAST SAMURAI and FEARLESS. Actress Aso Kumiko was
studying English for a while in London, but she went back to Japan
mid-studies after 9-11. Director Kimizuka Takumi and cinematographer
Yanagijima Katsumi also lived in London for a year, but I don't think
they were very earnest students.
