TV Asahi remakes of Kurosawa"s "Tengoku to Jigoku" and "Ikiru"

I'm sure many on the list are aware of TV Asahi's official
remakes of two Akira Kurosawa films, "Tengoku to Jigoku"
("High and Low") (http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/tengoku/) and
"Ikiru". (http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/ikiru/). Tengoku...
was broadcast yesterday (Sept. 8) and Ikiru is airing now.

I record Tengoku... but clumsily missed the first 10
minutes. If any listers in Japan recorded it, could you
please contact me off list? 

Apparently the remakes have led to the original films
being rented out at Tsutayas everywhere, so whatever you
think of Japanese TV dramas its giving Kurosawa's work
(especially Tengoku) a chance to be enjoyed by new
generations.

It might be interesting for film classes to do
side-by-side comparisons.
