I'm sure you'll get more detailed answers from others on the list, but in the meantime, your father might be happy to hear that she seem to still be alive (according to a short article in the japanese wikipedia), but less so that she got married (in 64 - after retiring from acting in 63) - no mention of kids ...

Hello all: First of all, my thanks to Jasper Sharp of midnighteye.com for his assistance in locating this list.

I have a sentimental story to offer you. My father, while stationed in Japan in the late 1950s, was romantically involved with a Japanese actress, Junko Kano (or Kanou). They fell in love and he proposed marriage. Her father, however, refused to give his blessing to the union because of the cultural differences.

I first heard their story in the 1970s when I was in high school. Of course I was fascinated -- I could have been born half-Japanese! Wow! My dad, now 71, still gets a faraway look in his eyes when mentioning her.

Dad took many photos of her while he was in Japan. She was quite beautiful.

I got to thinking about her the other day when friends departed for a holiday in Japan. I Googled her and my dad was fascinated to see the list of films she went on to make.

My question to anyone on this list: How would I go about finding more about Junko Kano? I'd love to know if she's still alive, if she married, had children. Contact information would be a dream come true.

Thanks in advance for any interesting "inside" information on Junko Kano I might share with my dad. He's recovering from a quadruple bypass right now so I thought would give him something else to think about.

  Kind Regards, Dru
