Hi everyone,
Actually, the excellent French DVD company Carlotta Films is doing just that. Two box sets containing just about all of Yoshida's features will be coming out, with French but no English subtitles, from them in March: http://www.dvdrama.com/news-23837-planning-carlotta-janvier-avril-2008.php. The same company is also releasing two of Mizoguchi's rarest films, Poppies and Oyuki the Virgin, earlier that month (to the best of my knowledge, neither of these is on DVD anywhere at the moment). Presumably the transfers of the Yoshida films will be ports from the Japanese discs and this will certainly give wider exposure to his work.

It would be nice if somebody in France could get rights to the new subs being prepared for this retrospective and put some DVDs out. I've heard that Philippe Jacquier, Yoshida's former producer in France, has moved into doing work on design and photography, so perhaps a company like Zootrope Films?
