Hello All!

I am back on the list after a long hiatus.  I was recommending it to a student
and then realized that it was pretty silly that I wasn't on the list anymore
myself.

Name:  Melissa Wender

Institutional affiliation or job: I'm teaching at Harvard for the year, but am
looking for a more permanent position.

City and country: Boston, MA  United States

Research projects or publications:  My first book was on the literature of
Koreans in Japan.  An anthology of translations of Zainichi Korean literature
is on my desktop almost ready to be sent out to the press and then to
reviewers.  I'm now working on a project that looks at texts remembering
Japanese colonialism in Korea and will include at least on chapter on film,
examining, at the very least, _Blood and Bones_.  Texts will not be limited to
Japanese ones -- and one particular interest is to consider the place of the US
in Japanese and Korean postwar imaginings of the colonial past.

Interests with regard to Japanese film and moving image media: I love WATCHING
Japanese film...  I have now been teaching it for a couple of years, but am
still very much of a novice when it comes to researching it.  I welcome
suggestions and advice from KineJapan folks.
