Research projects or publications: Post-war humanism through the cinema of Masaki Kobayashi (research in progress)
Interests with regard to Japanese film and moving image media: My interests are primarly regarding the Japanese cinema of the fifties
and sixties through Kobayashi, Kurosawa, Mizoguchi, Ozu and Naruse. I would also like to explore the Japanese New-Wave through the films
of Oshima, Imamura and their contemporaries.
