Japanese OCR software?

Hi all,

I know there are a lot of tech-y types on this list; I'm hoping you 
all can help me out. I've been toying with the idea of getting a 
scanner with Japanese OCR software, or just the software (?). I'm not 
really sure how to go about doing this in the most efficient way, nor 
do I know what products are out there. I work on a Mac, with a US 
operating system (I will be buying a new one for work this summer, so 
it'll be the newest OS). The reason I'm interested in this is not 
only portability (I'd like to reduce the amount of paper in my life 
by scanning all that stuff in and organizing it), but also 
searchability. Many PDFs are now text searchable, and I'm wondering 
whether this is possible in Japanese as well. Imagine all the terms I 
could search for.....

In any case, does anyone have any ideas? Since this is not strictly 
film-related, replies should probably be off list.
