Hello,
The Hashiguchi films mentioned by Artur Szarecki are good. the homosexual
themes are the main themes of the film, not some side character or a side
theme. Just to add, the director himself is also one of the few directors
who is openly gay and has a relatively mainstream following of both homo and
heterosexual audiences. Even though his most recent film "Gururi No Koto"
(all around us) does not deal with homosexuality, he said in an interview
that this films is an extension of his previous films and he wanted to
highlight a specific relationship between lovers. it might be interesting to
look at it since he is a homosexual director. I will let you know if I can
think of more film titles.
Good Luck,
Yuki Nakayama
