Apologies for my mistake, I got Somai mixed up with Jissoji.
Perhaps homoerotic encounter is a convention in Gakuen-mono although I am
not so familiar with the field.
House/ Obayashi Nobuhiko also has a homosexual undertone.

I'm sure someone mentioned this already, but Nakajima Takehiro's Okoge is
also interesting.

There is also Zoku Akumyo (or Shin Akumyo) with Katsu Shintaro which has an
okama side-kick character,
although the representation of okama might be a separate field.
