Translation of 'The Changeling'

There's an interesting review in the 'Guardian Review' of the english translation of OE Kenzaburo's Torikae ko/The Changeling.  The review picks up many of the filmic references to ITAMI Juzo.

At the end, the reviewer, Christopher Tayler, asks "She also seems to have translated book and film titles on the fly, leading to a mention of "Hitchcock's Balkan Express", which I'd guess is the Japanese title of The Lady Vanishes. This raises a question: in Oe's text, are Kogito's novels and Goro's [=Itami's] films given subtly different titles from their real-life counterparts, as they often are here? Given the novel's games with identity, it might be useful to know that, but reading Boehm's version it's anybody's guess."

I can answer the first part, which is yes, 'The Lady Vanishes' is know in Japan as Barukan chotokkyu = Balkan (super)express, but the main question is beyond me and would need someone who's read the novel in Japanese.
