Mizoguchi's "Chikamatsu Monogatari" (1954, aka "Crucified Lovers") is one of the top examples.  I presume you are interested in stylistic influences;  but if you mean (a) film-adapted stories [eg. Yamanaka's "Humanity & Paper Balloons" & others] or (b) films set in the traditional theatre world,
 the list is practically endless.
