One-off Kurosawa Hat Question

It does seem that Kurosawa wore a hat like John Ford's - in fact actually, a hat from 
John Ford himself, perhaps even worn by John Ford, and spontaneously handed 
over, as some kind of gesture of friendship or esteem.

But it's a different kind of hat from the "Kurosawa Marine Hat," but quite British, 
along the lines suggested by Prof. Martinez.
