One-off Kurosawa Hat Question

Hmmm.
the photos show him with various hats, including a very English bucket hat
designed to just keep the sun off. The more peaked hat also resembles the
flat cap assumed to by worn mostly by the English working class man. In
short, the hats seem very British to me, which is interesting.
