Dear all,

I've been enjoying updates through the KineJapan mailing list for the past
few weeks, and would like to take a moment now to introduce myself before
beginning to send out news items as well.

My name is Joel Neville Anderson, and I am a filmmaker, educator and
writer/researcher specializing in Japanese cinema. I am a graduate of
Purchase College's Conservatory of Theatre Arts & Film, and am currently
working at Japan Society and the Museum of the Moving Image in New York,
among additional freelance production and teaching engagements. My writing
on Japanese film is being published in the forthcoming second volume of *
Intellect*'s *World Directory of Cinema: Japan* (edited by John Berra), and
I regularly write for *Cinespect*, a New York-based online film journal.
Specific research interests lie in shomingeki and films analyzing the
Japanese family unit, nuberu bagu and the Art Theater Guild, DIY cinema and
jishu eiga--in addition to production methodologies and general film theory.
For additional information please see attached CV and my portfolio, linked
in my signature below.

I look forward to corresponding with you. Please don't hesitate to contact
me.

Best regards,
Joel Neville Anderson
