[KineJapan] Hou Hsiao-hsien

Dear everyone,

As some of you know, Hou Hsiao-hsien is the focus of the first major 
international initiative coordinated through the Center for Moving Image 
Arts at Bard College (CMIA).  The book, which includes contributions 
from several members of this list, has just been published 
(http://www.cup.columbia.edu/book/978-3-901644-58-0/hou-hsiaohsien). Its 
release is synchronized with a comprehensive retrospective that 
premiered at the Austrian Film Museum in May and will travel to 
seventeen cities worldwide through the end of 2015.

The retrospective includes the best available film prints of all of 
Hou's features, some of them newly struck from the original negatives.  
Most of these prints will not travel widely again, so I hope many of you 
will have the chance to see them at one of the venues participating in 
the tour.  Details and schedules will be added to this section of the 
CMIA website as they become available
