[KineJapan] Japanese Musical Films at Japan Society, New York

Thank you Aaron, Naoki, and everyone who responded. I'm glad it's not just
my obsession! Thanks also to Aiko Masubuchi and Kazu Watanabe of Japan
Society for doing an amazing amount of work getting everything ready. I
wish I could have shown more films and covered more periods. Maybe next
time...?
All but two of the films (You Can Succeed, Too and Irresponsible Era of
Japan) are hard-subtitled. Most of the prints are from the National Film
Center but The Stormy Man, Ah Bomb, Treatise on Japanese Bawdy Song, and
Memories of Matsuko are from the Japan Foundation. The Stormy Man and
Memories of Matsuko are playing at the University of Chicago in early May.
Unfortunately, it seems that the prints can't be held over until after the
summer, though I would be very happy to help out if anyone is interested in
trying to arrange something.
