The Mainichi Film Awards were announced with Listen to the Universe (Mitsubachi to enrai) getting best film. Narita Ryo (Katsuben!) got best actor, and Shim Eun-kyung (Shinbun kisha/The Journalist) got best actress. Ishikawa Kei got best director for Listen to the Universe.
