[KineJapan] Stephen Prince

I don’t believe anyone has posted about this on KineJapan, but the film scholar Stephen Prince passed away last month. He was one of the top film scholars in North America, even serving as president of SCMS, and pursued a broad range of research, from auteur studies to American film history, from introductory textbooks to conceptualizations of digital cinema. Many of us remember him for his important studies of Kurosawa Akira and Kobayashi Masaki, which appeared both in book form and on many DVDs of their films.

I only met Stephen a few times, but we communicated a number of times as we traded photos of grave visits and exchanged research information. His voice will be greatly missed.
