This article is fantastic history, answering all sorts of questions I've
had over the years. It's a must read.

But one question remains vague, and that's the Kawakita's thoughts about
the Shanghai Incident (beyond the impact on their business), the rise of
Italian fascism and  National Socialism, and the political transformations
going on back home.

Did your research provide any hints?
