The wonderfully eclectic avant-garde film critic and experimental filmmaker
Matsumoto Toshio taught for several years at Kyushu University of Art &
Design. He was a major influence on the impressive collection of
independent and experimental films held by Fukuoka City Public Library.
I've benefited tremendously from research there, and I was fortunate enough
to meet some of the early archivists and librarians. Your post is a
wonderful reminder to us all of Fukuoka's riches. It's really great to hear
the tradition is alive and well.
