[KineJapan] Nishida Toshiyuki (1947-2024)

Very sad to hear of his passing.

Nishida quit Meiji University to become an actor and quickly became one of Japan's most versatile performers. He appeared on film and television, did drama and comedy, sang hit songs and hosted TV variety shows. To some he is most famous for starring in the long running Tsuri baka nisshi series and other Yamada Yoji films; to others, he was the star of four Taiga Dramas and appeared in nine more; to some, he was the MC of Knight Scoop, a popular late night variety show; and to yet others, he was the star of the musical Fiddler on the Roof. Kitano Takeshi fans remember him for his appearances in the Outrage films. He won many awards both as a serious actor and as a comedian, and was given the Order of the Rising Sun in 2018. He will sorely be missed.
