Today's New York Times Arts section has an article about elite athletes who
are also anime fans and how their enthusiasm weaves into jock culture.
This article was also reprinted in the Japan Times.

While one NFL (football) star uses the term "nerd" in an effort to
demonstrate how a number of athletes break away from stereotypes, nowhere
in the article is the word "otaku" used.
