Scales

Any assistance appreciated.

My son (2nd grade) had a science answer marked "wronng" when he answered
that butterflies are not scaled creatures.

If I recall correctly, the butterfly's wings are scaled, but its body
is plain old industrial exoskeleton. Isn't it a bit of a stretch to
include them with fish and snakes and lizards? (Last I checked, chicken
feet bore scales too).

Sorry if I sort of barged in to your NG, but I don't really have time to
lurk before posting.

Appreciate any and all replies (if by e-mail, please delete nospam-).

Chris
